TERMS

Terms you can actually read.

Short, in plain numbers, and linked from the pricing page rather than hidden. If a term here surprises you, ask us about it before you sign — that's what it's for.

1. Your quote

Valid for 30 days. Itemised off our standard rate card, with the spec written on it. The price on the quote is the price on the invoice unless you sign a variation (see 4).

2. Payment structure

Three stages, and the deposit is capped by law — the Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 (Vic) allows a maximum 10% deposit on work under $20,000 and 5% at $20,000 or over. Anyone asking for 50% up front is asking for more than the Act allows on most residential fencing jobs.

On completion, after you've seen the fence30%

3. Late payment

The completion payment is due on the day the job is finished, once you've inspected the fence with us. Overdue amounts accrue interest at 10% per annum plus our reasonable recovery costs, and the 3-year workmanship guarantee is suspended until the account is paid in full.

4. Variations

If we find something the quote didn't price — rock, an old concrete footing, a buried service — work on that section stops, you get the variation in writing with a price off the published rates, and you sign it before we do the work. No signed variation, no charge.

5. Cancellation

Cancel before materials are ordered and your deposit comes back in full, no fee. Cancel after materials are ordered and we refund the deposit less our actual, documented costs — supplier restocking and delivery, receipts provided. We don't charge cancellation "fees" beyond real costs.

6. The fencing notice

Serving a fencing notice on your neighbour is your legal step under the Fences Act, but we prepare it on the official form, serve it and follow it up at no charge — how that works. You can download the standard Fencing Notice form here. If they don't respond within 30 days, the works can begin without their agreement — but their half isn't automatic: it's recovered through the Magistrates' Court, and we tell you that straight before you build.

7. The guarantee

Three years on the workmanship, on its own page in plain words — read it here. Painting your fence doesn't void it. Your Australian Consumer Law rights sit on top of it and nothing in these terms limits them.

These terms apply to residential fencing work quoted by Boundary Co Pty Ltd, ABN [XX] 701 272 353, trading as Boundary Co. Last updated 16 August 2026.
